Professional Freerider Eric Themel had the idea to create his own little Festival around his most favourite Sport and Lifestyle. Freeriding is about the pure essence of being out in the mountains and enjoying a good day with your friends.
Thats how the Freeride Festival came to life.
Starting with the “Nissan Freeride Montafon” in 2007 and 2008 and being one of the stops of the Nissan Freeride Worldtour qualifiers, the level at the Contest on the famous Hochjoch mountain started to be on FWT standards.
After a 2 year brake the Freeride Contest in the Montafon became the “Silvretta Montafon Freeride Festival by Eric Themel”!
On the 5th of Feb 2011, Sebastian Camus and Stephan Häusl were the first to win the prestigious event on the Hochjoch after its brake.
Now, in 2012 the next step for the Festival was made and Organizers Eric Themel and Chisi Speckle decided to grow with their Baby!
The new “Freeride Festival Series” was born and within 10 days 2 Events will give riders the chance to take part in one or both of the legendary Contests. Starting of in the Brandnertal and finishing on the Hochjoch with the legendary party at the Kapell-restaurant with Dj’s Stylewarz and the Wax Wreckaz it will be all about Freeriding and having a good time!! See you on the mountain.
